Brackley is ideally situated in Northamptonshire, close to the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire borders. Northampton, Oxford, Aylesbury and Milton Keynes are each 25 or less miles away and Buckingham, Banbury, Towcester and Bicester are each 12 or less miles away. The M1 Junction 15a is approximately 16 miles to the north and M40 Junction 10 is approximately 6 miles to the south.

In history, in 1215 representatives of King John met the barons at Brackley and Magna Carta was to have been signed at Brackley Castle but was later signed at Runneymede. St James Chapel in the Market Place is believed to be the oldest building in Great Britain in continuous use by a school, Magdalen College School was founded in Brackley in 1548. The modern Brackley town has a population of about 15,000 and expansion plans will add a further 5,000 over the next 10 years and facilities and amenities are planned to grow with the town.
