About the Business
The parent company, Ulverston Auction Mart PLC was originally formed in 1877 and traditionally employed auctioneers from Messrs Alfred Coward and Sons, Land Agents and Auctioneers to conduct their weekly livestock sales in Ulverston.
In the late 1920s the parent company purchased Messrs Alfred Coward and Sons and thereby expanded their expertise into the land agency and rural property sphere. In 1935 a further expansion took place with the acquisition of Messrs F J Harrison & Sons who specialised in urban properties and specialist antique furniture sales.
In 1975 these two companies amalgamated into Harrison Coward with the result that their joint client base was able to benefit from the wealth of expertise and experience gained in 133 years of dealing with urban and rural property and estate management.
